BRIN: N219 Aircraft Ready for Mass Production

Head of the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) Arif Satria said that the N219 aircraft is ready to be produced in greater numbers in accordance with government orders.

This production is one of BRIN's innovations in collaboration with PT Dirgantara Indonesia (PTDI). The aircraft made its maiden flight in 2017. Where BRIN also has a number of innovations with PTDI, we already have the N219, which is now ready for further production in accordance with government orders," said Arif Satria, after meeting with President Prabowo Subianto at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Monday (11/24/2025).

Arif stated that defense equipment was one of the topics discussed with President Prabowo today, including its contribution to the development of the amphibious aircraft, the N219A.

“We are also preparing how to build and strengthen the production of sea planes. So, amphibious aircraft that can also land on the sea. So, I think the aircraft industry with PT Dirgantara is already collaborating,” he said.

Not only PTDI, but BRIN will also collaborate with PT Pindad to produce the Maung. “We will also collaborate with Pindad, which produces defense equipment and is part of our automotive industry. I believe the Maung, which has been produced by Pindad, will continue to strengthen its R&D,” he said.
